In 1997, I was lecturing in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard University in Boston when my college sweetheart came back into my life. I always say that some women get a proposal, but I got a proposition. “There’s no surf in Boston Harbour,” he said.
I had obtained my Medical Degree from The State University of New York, completed residency training in Washington, DC, and then moved to Boston to earn my Masters of Public Health from Harvard and join the faculty of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel, one of the Harvard hospitals.
In 2003, I became an accredited doctor at Sydney IVF (now Genea). Prior to this, I spent three years working in a pharmaceutical company and saw the inside of every IVF clinic in Australia. I always knew that when that time was right for me I would return to clinical practice.
In 2019, I joined City Fertility as Clinical Director. I have always been proud to offer my patients the highest quality of service and together with City Fertility we are redefining what patients can expect in terms of the level of care, service and technology.
I am quite active in the media, appearing on radio, TV and in print, discussing fertility issues. It is my belief that infertility needs to be talked about and taboos removed. It’s something that many individuals and couples go through and they should not feel alone. I also regularly speak at conferences and seminars.
Professionally, my main interests are ovarian ageing, miscarriage and genetic disease. Many of the patients I treat have suffered from recurrent miscarriage or previous IVF failure. I know that often people who come to me have tried other options and need my persistence and support to achieve a successful outcome.
My treatment philosophy may be considered a little unorthodox by some. I will sometimes go above and beyond traditional techniques to maximise chances for success, encouraging use of holistic treatments in conjunction with medical approaches.
